Family isn't Just Blood

Meet the faces supporting us behind the scenes. Some you may even see out in the wild (at markets), say hi when you do!

The Artist

Me aka Kell

pronouns are dealers choice

Kell has always loved making art and after her Papa passed away it became a way of staying grounded. Through this business they hopes to create something different while integrating community and family with art as much as possible.

Favorite part of markets: "I LOVE seeing the right piece go to the right person, everyone truly has a unique vibe that gets reflected in what pieces they gravitate to!"

CFO, #1 Supporter and Kell's rock

Mom aka Kathleen

she/her

Kathleen loves the idea of trying new crafts and encouraged that creativity in her kids growing up (and now)! She believes that the best part of creating is being able to see an idea come to life and then sharing that joy with others.

Favorite part of markets: "I get to go around and learn about different creators stories and be curious about their ideas and process"

CFO, Handyman, Best Market Assistant,

and Idea Train Conductor

Dad aka Bruce

he/him

Bruce is creative at heart and is bursting with ideas of projects to do. He loves to help out however he can and never complains about cutting or tying tags before a market (don't worry Kell gives him treats for his hard labor). As he's starting this new phase in life, he's really enjoying going on trips to new places and exploring Ottawa whenever he comes up to help!

Favorite part of markets: "Discovering new things and seeing the creativity people have (and finding a treat or yummy food vendor)"

Chief Nerd, Editor

Younger Brother aka Connor

he/him

Connor is currently doing a lot of cool business stuff at the University of Michigan! He is super smart and is helping Kell out with their business growth plans. He does however get put to work as a human spellcheck (and grammar...), to which we are very thankful! Connor also is a fan of witty humor, that he uses to fulfill his moral duty as a younger brother to pester (lovingly) his sister.

Chief Gramma and Idea Fountain

Gramma aka Marilou

she/her

Marilou is an artist herself working with all kinds of mediums (can you see where we get it from?). She sees the good in the world and believes in starting every day with an open heart. She was a teacher in Toronto for many years and retired to cottage country where she could swim in the lake and grow her beautiful garden. She continues to create, learn and enjoy family and friends as much as she can!

Model and Artist Manager

Cat aka Halo

she/her or lil miss

Halo is our very sweet but clingy manager. She is always watching our employees as they work (gets kind of creepy sometimes) but will go on her way after a few head and chin scratches.

Please blame her if you find cat hair in your art, she insists on "quality control inspections" while paint and sealants are drying. . . we've tried everything she just wants all of our customers to be cat people. Legend says if you stare into her eyes for too long she may curse you to love her forever. . .

Who it's All For

Phil was a beloved husband, father and Papa who sadly passed away in May of 2022 of cancer.

While his time here was too short, he lived every day honestly and with an enormous amount of love for people, animals and the earth.

Papa believed in acting on your values and frequently wrote to his elected officials and organization leaders about issues, questions or suggestions he had. He often researched topics he didn't know about to form his own opinions and better understand the person he was talking to

If he wasn't reading a book from the library or keeping aware and informed about world issues, he was cheering the loudest for Chelsea soccer club or hanging out around the table with friends and family laughing and playing games.

Phil was one of the kindest souls you could meet and we hope to honor his legacy by continuing to act on our principals, enjoy and celebrating the little things that make us happy, and being informed members of our global community.

We hope you will join us in this mission and come along to see what we'll do next!
